A groundbreaking study in Japan explores Pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ), a “longevity vitamin” found in kiwi, parsley, and green peppers, through an in vitro examination. Using a Mitsubishi Gas Chemical (MGC) supplement named MGCPQQ, researchers observed reduced infectivity of the Feline Infectious Peritonitis Virus, a coronavirus family member. PQQ exhibited strong antiviral effects during early-stage coronavirus infections, linked to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. While more testing is necessary, the study suggests PQQ could be a promising option for managing coronavirus symptoms. MGCPQQ, a well-studied PQQ supplement, holds potential for further research into coronavirus disease prevention.
