The study “Anticancer role of mango (Mangifera indica L.) peel and seed kernel extracts against 7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene-induced mammary carcinogenesis in female rats” investigated the potential anticancer properties of mango peel and seed kernel extracts. Researchers administered these extracts to female Sprague–Dawley rats with mammary tumors induced by 7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene (DMBA). The study assessed markers of endocrine disruption, apoptosis, and oxidative stress. Findings indicated that treatment with mango extracts reduced oxidative stress by enhancing antioxidant parameters, decreased estrogen levels and estrogen receptor-α expression, and increased apoptosis through elevated caspase-3 activity and DNA fragmentation. These results suggest that mango peel and seed kernel extracts may have therapeutic potential against breast cancer due to their antioxidant, antiproliferative, proapoptotic, and anti-estrogenic effects.
