A recent survey conducted among 8,600 people showed that probiotics as a supplement gained popularity, while vitamin D remained the most popular choice among users. The survey was published in the journal, Nutraceuticals World.

ConsumerLab conducted a survey last year – “Survey of Vitamin and Supplement Users” among the readers of the company’s newsletter. The survey was conducted to find out product reviews by respondents and also help them make informed decisions while choosing and consuming healthy foods and supplements. Based on the results, it was found that probiotics showed absolute growth in popularity as a supplement, followed closely by quercetin and vitamin K. 70% of respondents purchased vitamin D, which remained the most popular supplement.

The survey respondents belonged to the group of people who actively used at least 4 different supplements on a daily basis. The survey was done to assess the popularity of 209 supplements, including those for pets. Popularity levels were analyzed based on the respondent’s gender, age, and frequency of using the supplement. At the end of the survey, 21 out of the top 50 supplements showed a decline in popularity, and 20 exhibited an increase.
