According to a recent news update about a food survey, it was found that consumers chose plant-based foods to be their immune system boosters and support overall health. This news was published in the product development guide, Food & Beverage Insider.

In the survey titled “What’s Trending in Nutrition,” 800 registered dieticians were questioned about their top 10 choices from among 31 different “superfoods.” For the second consecutive year, the respondents came up with a list of everything that was plant-based. The top 10 list of superfoods included fermented foods, seeds, blueberries, avocados, nuts, leafy greens, aquatic greens, green tea, ancient grains, and non-dairy milks.

While certain fermented foods were recent additions to grocery store shelves, there were other contemporary foods that had been in use for centuries. Some of the superfoods contained animal derivatives such as eggs and salmon. The only fruit on the list was blueberries for 2023. Salads containing a mix of greens, avocado, berries, and seeds were increasingly popular. In order to reach a particular nutrient profile, people are now complementing their diets with these superfoods. However, the focus on plant-based foods does not imply a total avoidance of protein sources.
