A new randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study reveals that a daily serving of yogurt containing Lactobacillus paragasseri OLL2716 may alleviate gastric discomfort and lower stress in healthy adults. Primary results highlighted significant reductions in “epigastric pain” and “epigastric pain syndrome-like symptoms” at 6 and 12 weeks in the L. paragasseri OLL2716 group. Furthermore, participants showed improvements in stress-related symptoms including irritability, tension, and enjoyment of eating by week 6, based on scores from the Nepean Dyspepsia Index (SF-NDI). The probiotic group also reported higher appetite and hunger satisfaction scores on the Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating Scale (GSRS) and Council on Nutrition Appetite Questionnaire-Japanese (CNAQ-J) by week 12. This suggest that regular intake of L. paragasseri OLL2716 could provide a simple, effective way to support digestive comfort and emotional well-being in individuals with mild gastric complaints.
