A new study analyzing data from over 4,000 U.S. women has found that a diet rich in antioxidants may significantly reduce the risk of developing endometriosis. Researchers used data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) and found that women with higher scores on the Composite Dietary Antioxidant Index (CDAI) had a lower likelihood of endometriosis. Women in the highest quartile of CDAI had a 17% lower risk compared to those in the lowest quartile. The protective link was even more pronounced in women aged 30- 39, those with lower income or education levels, and individuals with obesity, high blood pressure, or a history of smoking.Findings highlight the potential of antioxidant-rich diets as a preventive strategy for endometriosis, particularly in high-risk groups.
