Conducted over 12 years as part of the European initiative “A Healthy Diet for a Healthy Life,” this study involved 840 individuals aged 65 and above in Bordeaux and Dijon, France. Published in Molecular Nutrition and Food Research, it introduces a Mediterranean diet metabolomic score (MDMS) based on serum biomarkers, demonstrating an inverse correlation between adherence to the Mediterranean diet and long-term cognitive decline in older individuals. The findings support the use of such indicators for health assessments and personalized guidance in later life.
