Study found that consuming plant stanol ester improved immune response to COVID-19 vaccination in overweight/obese individuals. It increased IgM antibody levels against the virus spike protein, particularly two weeks post-vaccination, and boosted IgG Spike concentrations in those who exhibited IgG seroconversion. Additionally, cytokine concentrations decreased in the plant stanol ester group. These results suggest that plant stanol consumption might enhance vaccine efficacy in high-risk individuals, regardless of LDL cholesterol reduction.
