The study investigates the potential antidepressant properties of amber extract. Amber, a plant resin traditionally used in medicine, was administered to mice subjected to restraint stress to assess its effects on depression-like behaviors and oxidative stress markers. The findings suggest that amber extract may possess antidepressant effects, as evidenced by reduced immobility time in the tail suspension test and modulation of stress-related biochemical parameters. The findings from this study suggest that amber extract possesses antidepressant-like properties, potentially mediated through the modulation of the HPA axis, enhancement of neurotransmitter levels, and reduction of oxidative stress. These results indicate that amber extract could be a promising alternative therapy for managing depression.
