New research by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) reveals that a low-fat vegan diet significantly outperforms the Mediterranean diet in reducing weight and inflammatory advanced glycation end-products (AGEs). Over 36 weeks, participants on the vegan diet lost an average of 6 kg, while those on the Mediterranean diet saw no change. The vegan diet cut AGEs due to lower meat, fat, and dairy intake. Dr. Hana Kahleova highlights that this diet not only supports weight loss but also reduces chronic disease risk linked to high AGE levels, showcasing a simple yet effective way to improve health.
