A new study found that supplementation with proprietary persimmon leaf extract, called “Persimonal” may support blood pressure and healthy cholesterol. This study was published in the multimedia publishing brand, Nutritional Outlook.

This randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled study enrolled 86 male and female subjects who were between 40-75 years and suffering from either borderline hypertension or borderline high cholesterol (LDL) levels. They were assigned an intervention of 2 Persimonal capsules daily (150mg each) or a placebo for 180 days. Persimonal is the proprietary persimmon leaf extract from Nutraceuticals and Agriceuticals Technology Company (NATCO). A blood pressure test or blood draw at baseline and on days 7, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, and 180 was done to evaluate the subjects.

The intervention showed a significant reduction in mean blood pressure levels at all study assessment timepoints compared to the baseline in all 73 subjects who completed the study. Even in the lipid values, those subjects who were given persimmon leaf extract showed reductions in mean total cholesterol and mean LDL. At days 7, 60, 90, and 120, there was a reduction in LDL compared to baseline, and similarly at days 7, 30, and 120 for total cholesterol.

Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that Persimonal shows positive reduction in blood pressure and lipid values in the blood.
