Vegan Sesamcoll (SCP), a plant-derived peptide preparation obtained from enzymatically hydrolyzed Sesamum indicum (sesame) proteins. SCP demonstrated dose dependent antioxidant activity, exhibiting ABTS radical scavenging activity of up to 88.9% and DPPH radical scavenging activity of up to 76.6% at the highest tested concentration. In human dermal fibroblasts, SCP significantly inhibited collagenase activity by approximately 51%, thereby reducing collagen degradation, while simultaneously increasing type I collagen production by up to 1.6 fold compared with untreated cells. In epidermal keratinocytes, SCP also enhanced skin hydration by significantly increasing the expression of hyaluronan synthase-2 (HAS2) and hyaluronan synthase-3 (HAS3) proteins, promoting endogenous hyaluronic acid synthesis, demonstrating Vegan Sesamcoll possesses potent antioxidant, anti-collagenase, collagen-boosting, and skin hydration-promoting properties, highlighting its potential as a sustainable plant-based ingredient for anti-aging and skin health applications.
