Zedoary, or white turmeric, is a plant related to ginger and turmeric, traditionally used for its medicinal properties. In this study, researchers prepared herbal teas using varying amounts of dried zedoary rhizome powder and had thirty male participants with mild high cholesterol consume these teas daily for two months. The results showed that participants experienced up to a 17% reduction in total cholesterol levels, a 6.8% increase in “good” HDL cholesterol, and decreases in “bad” LDL cholesterol and triglycerides by approximately 5.6% and 12.5%, respectively. These findings suggest that zedoary herbal tea may serve as a natural option for managing mild high cholesterol.
