A new pilot study suggests that combining creatine with guanidinoacetic acid (GAA) may enhance esports performance in experienced male gamers. The open-label quasi-experimental study evaluated 10 experienced male Dota 2™ players over a four-week supplementation period. Participants consumed 2 grams of creatine and 2 grams of GAA twice daily. The esports performance scores improved by 30.1%, mean reaction time dropped by 19.2%, accuracy increased by 4.4%, and executive control rose by 16.2%. These findings suggest that the creatine-GAA blend may act as a performance-enhancing tool by improving cerebral creatine uptake, which supports energy supply and cognitive processing in the brain. While creatine is already well-known in the sports world, GAA appears to enhance its transport into the brain, amplifying cognitive benefits.
