Inulin Improves Gut Health in Obese Children

This study tested inulin, a natural prebiotic, in obese children for 6 months. Inulin increased healthy gut bacteria, especially Bifidobacterium and butyrate-producing microbes, and improved overall microbiome diversity more than placebo or diet advice. It also changed important microbial functions linked to better metabolic health. Overall, inulin helped restore gut balance and may support healthier metabolism in children with obesity.
