In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial involving 180 participants with mild-to-moderate depression, researchers tested saffron (Crocus sativus), scutellaria (Scutellaria baicalensis), and their combination over six weeks. Both extracts individually improved mood, anxiety, and sleep quality, while the combined formula (SAFFR’UP®) showed a synergistic effect, yielding greater improvements in emotional well-being than either alone or placebo. Minimal side effects were observed, highlighting the supplements’ safety. The study supports saffron and scutellaria as a natural, well-tolerated adjunctive therapy for mood regulation.
