Kaneka Probiotics and AB-Biotics have unveiled a study examining how their proprietary probiotic blend, Gyntima Menopause, impacts estrogen levels in peri- and post-menopausal women. This blend, comprising Levilactobacillus brevis KABP 052, Lactiplantibacillus plantarum KABP 051, and Pediococcus acidilactici KABP 021, targets the estrabolome in the gut to increase deconjugation and boost estrogen levels. The double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study involved 100 women aged 45-55 and demonstrated that Gyntima Menopause helped maintain estrogen levels over 12 weeks, contrasting with the decline observed in the placebo group. The results suggest potential commercial opportunities in the under-researched menopause market, where effective natural alternatives to drug-based treatments are in high demand. The blend’s mechanism, enhancing β-glucuronidase (GUS) activity to recycle estrogen, offers a promising avenue for managing menopause symptoms.
