A new double-blind clinical trial shows that polyphenol-rich sorghum bicolor extract can speed up strength recovery after eccentric exercise. Both high (500 mg/day) and low (250 mg/day) doses helped restore forearm flexion strength faster than placebo, with improvements seen by 48–72 hours post-exercise. Interestingly, the extract did not reduce muscle soreness, swelling, or pain perception, but its impact on strength recovery suggests it may help athletes sustain higher training volumes and improve performance in repeated sessions.
