5-Loxin, a Boswellia serrata extract standardized to 30% AKBA, was investigated for its anti-inflammatory and joint health benefits in osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee. In a 90-day, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial involving 75 OA patients, daily supplementation with 100 mg or 250 mg of 5-Loxin significantly improved pain and physical function scores compared to placebo. Notably, the 250 mg dose showed measurable benefits within seven days. Reductions in the cartilage-degrading enzyme MMP-3 supported these improvements. Safety assessments revealed no adverse effects, confirming that 5-Loxin is well tolerated. The extract may promote joint health by modulating inflammatory pathways and protecting cartilage integrity.
