Curcumin has poor oral absorption and is rapidly metabolized. To improve local delivery, curcumin-chitosan nanoparticles were incorporated into ethyl cellulose skin patches. The patches showed controlled release, significantly higher curcumin retention in rat skin, and stronger anti-inflammatory activity than nanoparticles alone. These results support curcumin-loaded nanoparticle patches as a promising transdermal approach for managing inflammation.
