A population-based cohort study from Southern Italy demonstrates a clear inverse association between Italian-style coffee consumption and the risk of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), with a dose-dependent reduction observed as intake increases. Compared to individuals consuming less than one cup per day, those consuming 1, 2, and 3 cups daily showed progressively lower risk (OR: 0.479, 0.468, and 0.449, respectively), with the strongest protective effect seen at 4–6 cups per day (OR: 0.407). The benefits are likely driven by the rich bioactive profile of Italian-style coffee and preparation-specific factors that influence compound availability, supporting its potential role as a culturally relevant functional dietary component for metabolic and liver health.
