Latilactobacillus curvatus IM01 – Probiotic Modulation of Allergic Airway Inflammation vis gut lung axis

The study investigated the probiotic Latilactobacillus curvatus IM01 for its potential to reduce allergic airway inflammation by regulating gut microbiota and immune responses. In an experimental allergic airway inflammation model, administration of the probiotic improved airway pathology by lowering inflammatory cell infiltration, reducing cytokines associated with allergic responses, and restoring immune balance. The treatment altered gut microbiota composition by increasing beneficial bacterial populations and promoting metabolites such as short-chain fatty acids, which are known to influence systemic immune regulation. These changes helped suppress excessive Th2-mediated immune activity and supported regulatory immune responses, leading to reduced airway inflammation and improved respiratory outcomes. These findings suggest that Latilactobacillus curvatus IM01 may serve as a promising probiotic strategy for managing allergic airway inflammation through gut lung axis modulation.
