Dietary Anthocyanins as Neurocognitive Modulators

A recent research suggests that what we eat may shape how well our brain ages and plant pigments called anthocyanins (found in berries, purple corn, black rice, etc.) look especially promising. A meta-analysis of 59 randomized controlled trials found that anthocyanin-rich supplements significantly improved overall cognitive performance compared to placebo. Benefits weren’t limited to just one area. Gains were seen in attention, processing speed, verbal fluency, working memory, episodic memory, and visuospatial ability.
